Michael's Story
I couldn’t make enough money to support my drug habit. So I started making money
the ‘easy way’, dealing and stealing. I ended up in jail…that only made things worse.
I lost my job, I lost my house, I lost my family. I felt there was nothing to live for. There
was only more time in jail and there were “programs”. Nothing helped … only drugs …
any drugs. Life was a living hell…I wanted to die. I didn’t care anymore. I had hit bottom.
Welcome Home stopped the downward spiral. I realized how messed up I was. Getting
back up is not easy, but I am on my way. I have two children out there who want their
dad back. I have so much to look forward to. I now have a future. I now have goals.
I can smile again. Welcome Home has given me my life back.

When I came in to Welcome Home I was a complete mess. I could not sit still, nor
could I think straight…to my surprise I was accepted, the staff at Welcome Home
saw something in me I did not even see in myself. They saw a desire to change and
a leadership ability I did not know I had. After several months I started to believe the
encouraging words the Welcome Home staff would affirm me with. I feel they have
groomed me into a great leader…completing this program will be the first thing I have
seen through to the end. I look forward to continuing to be an example for others. I now
believe I have a lot to offer those going through similar struggles and that if I can turn
my life around anybody can….
